Wireless Broadband - Breaking Boundaries!

Having instantaneous bandwidth greater than around 1 MHz and supporting data rates above 1.5 Mbps' is broadband according to the 802.16-2004 standard. This broadband when reaches us without the entangling cables, it is known by the name of Wireless broadband.

Today, internet has spread its wings throughout the world with all the people getting used to the high speed of new connection types. Earlier, there used to be the dialup connections offering a low speed of a few kbps. Then, the internet tasks used to be very boring and monotonous kind of thing despite the fact that 'internet is an ocean of knowledge'. The only reason for this was the low speed of this connection. But now we have found a fast, very fast means of connection - the broadband. Through the broadband, we measure speed in Mbps and not Kbps. And then comes the wireless broadband through which we can reach speeds of upto 100 Mbps. Isn't it amazing!

These broadbands make use of short-range radio waves to build a specified coverage area where computers can be connected in absence of wires. The network consists of a series of towers that are placed in the radio wave coverage area and offer good connectivity among themselves.

With this high speed comes the joy of using internet. Browsing is real fun and downloading is much more fun. Large movie files can be downloaded within minutes whereas the same took days in case of the dial up. The wireless broadband also allows users to view online videos with the extreme entertainment. Online gaming has also turned to be very common due to the favorable usage conditions provided by it. Emails too can be accessed with the maximum comfort. Earlier, we did not have the concept of online videos or online gaming but with the advent of the broadband, they were also available and with the wireless broadband they became very common. Now, online gaming has a different experience and the online videos don't find any disturbance which was there due to slow video streaming. We have so much to use over the internet that other modes of transmission except the broadband would prove useless.

The broadbands used to reach homes through the DSL and cables but the wireless broadband reaches us through the satellites. Due to no cables these can reach us very easily. Now we don't even need the antennas that used to be there a few times back. The connection is simply plugged into a wireless router. The wireless cards and USB devices can also be used for the laptops. There are many organisations giving high speed through these cards and these can be found by searching over the internet. You only have to carefully go through the broadband usage policy while taking up the connection and then you are free to reach any extent within the policy.

With the people becoming more and more mobile, the high speed and the absence of wire in the broadband can be very useful and actually it has proved its use.

Broadband by Satellite - A Wireless Choice

A modern world where total wireless connectivity may seem like it's just around the corner, yet there are some things that rely on that old copper wire or fiber optics. Yet other towns across the US may probably never heard of it and the closest thing they have is dial-up.

Broadband by satellite has been around for a few years, yet only recently it has been making its way into most homes in the US. Unlike WiFi, which still rely on a modem connected to a line and to a wireless router, high-speed broadband by satellite can be done even without the presence of phone lines.

The technology works similar to cellphones, only the main transmitter is about a few thousand miles up in space. A dish is installed on the roof to receive the connection and connected to the computer or wireless router and that's it. Fees may vary depending on the provider, where some might offer free installation of the dish and cheap rates.

As for speeds, bear in mind that broadband by satellite is not as fast as DSL or cable, yet definitely faster than dial-up. Sometimes, certain interference may occur, especially in the presence of sunspots that emit electromagnetic waves that interrupt signals. And in the event of a power failure, then goes the connection entirely.

Rather than having to drive to the nearest library, WiFi hotspot, or where internet coverage is out of reach, broadband by satellite is the next best thing to keep connected even from the most remote place in the country.

How to Become Familiar With Technology

I have been a fan of technology for so long. It's a passion of mine. However, most people view technology in a fearful way. What this means is they may become hesitant when adapting to new technology. Why? Honestly, if you are not familiar with it, it can be a scary thing. Take for example the first time you rode a bike, you were nervous. The same thing applies to technology.

If you have tech tips available to you at your disposal, life could be much easier for you. Technology in the past and even to this day has cost people a lot of money. The reason is because most people don't know how to use it properly and their systems become infected with viruses. Past experiences have shown me that interacting with technology is the best way to become more in tune with it. There are always things available to make different things easier for people, but the big problem is the money factor. Before gaining the knowledge I have now with computers, I spent a lot of money to have them fixed. The more use it, the more you will adapt to the situation presented to you, but obviously you need some guidance.

Technology opens our eyes to so many things, yet only a few are brave enough to take chances and experience them. Technology allows for quick and also the simplest way to connect with others. So, do you feel like you would like a way to keep yourself up to speed with using technology?

Some Disadvantages of the Broadband Network

As far as any digital native can remember, the changes of the internet has brought about a much faster and better way of connecting the world, exchanging of large amounts of information and the means to get in touch with people.

Yet technology does come with its own flaws, and inconvenienced it may be for a lot of people, the disadvantages of broadband network are usually man-made, and sometimes due to natural calamity.

Just because broadband is fast doesn't mean it's unlimited. By this time, there are more than 80% of people who are or had switched to broadband. Imagining the network traffic that would clog the lines and cause a network slowdown is one of the problems being faced today. Sometimes, people who would really want to save on money would try and set up a wireless access, splitting the network depending on how many are connected that would also cause the slowdown.

Another one of the disadvantages of broadband network is coverage on its own. Some parts in the US may not even have phone lines. If they do, any service provider wouldn't consider setting up a high-speed connection in a populace of less than 500.

In spite of the disadvantages of broadband network, the main idea of connectivity has to be as fast as talking to someone over the phone. Yet the expenses, slowdowns and sometimes possible leeching (someone who accesses a wireless network without prior knowledge), it would be impossible for people to abandon broadband at this point in time.
